Launch a marketing site in an afternoon

A practical, no-fluff playbook for shipping a credible marketing site fast — positioning, structure, and the one thing most teams get wrong.

Most marketing sites die in a Figma file. The design is “almost there,” the copy is “being reviewed,” and three months later there’s still nothing live. This post is the opposite of that: a sequence you can run in an afternoon and improve later.

Start with positioning, not layout

Before you touch a single section, write one sentence: who is this for, and what changes for them? That sentence becomes your hero headline, your meta description, and the lens for every other decision. If you can’t write it, no amount of gradient will save the page.

A useful test: show the sentence to someone outside your company. If they can’t tell you what you sell and who it’s for, keep editing.

Use a structure that’s already proven

You don’t need a novel layout. The sections that convert are boringly consistent:

  1. Hero — the one-sentence promise plus a single primary action.
  2. Social proof — logos or a number that signals you’re real.
  3. Features framed as outcomes — not “we have X,” but “you get Y.”
  4. Pricing — visible, honest, with a clear default.
  5. FAQ — the objections you already hear on sales calls.
  6. A final CTA — repeat the ask for people who scrolled.

Fill each with real words about your product. Placeholder copy is where momentum goes to die.

Ship, then iterate

The site you launch today is a starting point, not a monument. Get it live, point your domain at it, and let real traffic tell you what to fix. A live B-minus site beats a perfect one that never ships — every time.

The best marketing site is the one that exists. You can always make the live one better; you can’t optimize a draft.

Next up: turning that site into a content engine that compounds.
